This morning, after waking up much too early for a Sunday, I made some coffee + crawled back into bed to drink it. My dude fell asleep in the spare bedroom after migrating there when he woke up early AM so he wouldn’t wake me up (sweet!), so Leia and I had the bed all to ourselves.
You guys.. you’ll NEVER guess what I did!!
I sparked up my iPad, pulled up a book + read.
I READ. I READ A BOOK.
I cannot remember the last time I was able to fully immerse myself into a book, or at least something that wasn’t work/business related! The coffee stayed warm + toasted, I stayed warm + toasty, and it was marvellous. I had zero distractions.
It isn’t often I feel like I have the time in the morning to enjoy a little bit of time to myself… I like to sleep in + I’ve got it down to a science. I know exactly how long it takes me to get ready in the morning, so I have a series of alarms that I’ll set the night before, depending on whether I need to wash my hair or not (it’s a process!).
My Sunday mornings are usually perfect, but the lil extra bit of quiet time was MUCH needed going into such a busy week. I forgot about everything — the pile of dishes in the sink from the night before + the two, towering laundry baskets I kept saying “I’ll do you tomorrow” to yesterday… ??♀️??♀️ just, vanished from memory!
But now, it’s almost 9pm. It’s been a productive day of organizing + cleaning + folding that laundry.. so here’s my friendly reminder to take a little bit of you time today because YOU DESERVE IT!
Go draw yourself a bath + soak in the tub for a half an hour. Make yourself a cup of tea + read a few chapters of a book (or flip through a magazine you’ve been dying to peruse). Tomorrow is the beginning of a new work week, and what better way to go into it but refreshed + clear headed.

I’m making it a thing.
